RICHMOND, VA — Employees at a local accounting firm are raising concerns about the condition of a coworker who appeared to be experiencing what colleagues described as a severe “case of the Mondays” Friday morning.

Glen, an accountant who has worked at the company for several years, reportedly arrived shortly after 8 a.m. and immediately exhibited behavior that coworkers considered unusual for the final workday of the week.

“He just seemed checked out,” said one employee familiar with the situation. “Usually he's pretty engaged on Fridays. This morning he came in, sat down, and didn't say anything.”

The employee, who asked not to be identified, said Glen declined an offer of coffee and appeared frustrated when asked about his plans for the weekend.

“He said, ‘I haven't even made it through today.’”

Several employees have since come forward as whistleblowers, citing what they described as a broader lack of synergy within Glen's work environment.

According to coworkers, Glen was noticeably quiet during a 9 a.m. team meeting and did not participate when the group was asked to share its priorities for the day.

“He normally has something to say,” another employee said. “Today he just looked at the table.”

Coworkers Begin to Notice Pattern

The concerns reportedly intensified when Glen was asked to help with a routine accounting issue and responded that he would “get to it.”

According to two employees familiar with the exchange, Glen then looked at the clock.

It was 9:23 a.m.

“He wasn't being rude,” one coworker said. “It was more like he was disappointed that it was still morning.”

Employees also reported that Glen declined an informal Friday lunch invitation, saying he needed to “get some things done.”

Sources said he had completed little work by that point.

The situation has prompted some employees to question whether Glen's apparent Monday-like behavior is related to ongoing workplace morale issues.

“I don't know if I'd call it burnout,” one coworker said. “But something is definitely off.”

Management Responds

Management acknowledged that there had been some concern regarding Glen but characterized the situation as an isolated personnel matter.

When asked whether management had received complaints specifically involving a lack of synergy, the representative paused before saying, “That's one way of describing it.”

However, employees say Glen returned to his desk shortly afterward, opened Excel, and worked in silence.

“He seemed better,” one coworker said.

After a brief pause, the coworker added, “But not Friday better.”

By early afternoon, several employees had reportedly begun referring to the incident as “The Friday Situation.”

One coworker said the office atmosphere remained tense.

“Everyone's trying to figure out what happened,” she said. “It's Friday. We're supposed to be in a good mood.”

As of press time, Glen had approximately two hours remaining in the workday.

Sources close to the situation said he had begun discussing weekend plans with coworkers, a development that some employees interpreted as a sign of improvement.

“He said he might get some yard work done,” one coworker reported.

Asked whether this represented a return to normal Friday behavior, the coworker remained cautious.
